PORVORIM: The Economic Offences Cell (EOC), Porvorim, has registered a case against Naqeeb Mulla, a resident of Belagavi, Karnataka, for allegedly committing a GST fraud amounting to ₹10.06 crore.
According to the EOC, the accused allegedly posed as a tax consultant and fraudulently created fake GST entries to wrongly claim input tax credit, thereby causing substantial loss to the government exchequer.
Based on the findings, a case has been registered and further investigation into the fraud is currently underway to ascertain the full extent of the offence and identify any other persons involved.
The Economic Offences Cell has stated that further details are expected to emerge as the probe progresses.
