VERNA: Verna Police have registered a cheating and forgery case based on a complaint filed by Nagaraj Ratnakar Prabhu, a resident of Upasnagar, Zuarinagar, alleging that he was duped of ₹9.04 lakh in a fraudulent green chilli export deal.
As per the complaint, between 2nd September and 19th September 2024, the accused Niraj Salunke, Proprietor of Import Export Federation, a resident of Pune, Maharashtra, induced the complainant to invest ₹10.60 lakh in a green chilli export business by claiming there was a high demand in the Dubai market and that the venture would yield substantial profits.
However, acting with fraudulent and dishonest intent, Salunke allegedly prepared forged shipment documents without the complainant’s knowledge or consent, using forged signatures and the complainant’s seal, and exported the green chilli consignment to Dubai.
The accused then reportedly travelled to Dubai and falsely informed the complainant that the market prices had fallen sharply, after which he sold the goods at lower rates, causing a wrongful loss of ₹9,04,000 to the complainant.
A case has been registered at Verna Police Station, and further investigation is being conducted by PSI Rajdatt Arsekar.
