New Delhi: At least one person was killed in Kathmandu on Sunday as violent clashes broke out between security forces and protesters opposing Nepal’s recent social media ban. The protests, led largely by Gen Z demonstrators, escalated into chaos as crowds stormed restricted areas and breached the Federal Parliament premises.
Authorities responded by imposing a curfew in parts of the capital and deploying the army to restore order.
The government’s controversial decision to ban social media platforms has triggered widespread outrage, with critics calling it an attack on freedom of expression and a diversion from mounting corruption allegations.
Tensions remain high in the capital, with security forces on alert to prevent further escalation.
