PANAJI: Ponda MLA Ravi Naik said the country has still not achieved a hundred per cent literacy of women.
“If the country wants a better future, women should be empowered with proper education. They should be given proper training, incentives and remuneration for encouraging self-employment,” Naik said while speaking on the occasion of Azadika Amrut Mahotsav special programme on women.
Ravi Naik further urged the government to provide education and proper training for women’s self-employment so that they become self-reliant. Women literacy means literacy of the entire family, said Ravi Naik.
The programme was organized by the Dattopant Thengadi National Board for Workers Education and Development (DTNBWE&D) affiliated with the Ministry of Labour Empowerment Govt of India, with a regional office at Ponda.
On occasion, (DTNBWE&D) Director-General Harsh Vaidya, Kisan Gadge, Regional Director Aruna Wagh and Prashant Edavi were present.
