BALLI: The Quepem Taluka Enforcement Squad booked 11 cases of violations under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) during an inspection drive conducted at Balli on March 30.
The enforcement squad was led by Joint Mamlatdar-I Quepem Surendra Gaonkar. The team included Talathi Balli Rasika Gaurav, PSI Suhas P. Velip of Cuncolim Police Station, Circle Inspector Quepem Dattaram Velip, Sanitary Inspector PHC Balli Laxmikant Pagi, and GOACAN Secretary Lorna Fernandes.
During the drive, the squad inspected supermarkets and grocery shops and found violations of Section 4 of COTPA. Authorities issued 11 challans and recovered a total fine amount of ₹2,200.
Officials stated that such inspections will continue to ensure compliance with tobacco control regulations and to discourage violations in public places.
