CANACONA: An 11-year-old boy, identified as Samesh Gauder, tragically lost his life after suffering an electric shock in the Bhatpal area of Canacona.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of June 28, when the young boy was reportedly using a mosquito bat near an extension board inside his room.
According to family members, Samesh accidentally received an electric shock, which caused him to lose consciousness.
He was immediately rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Canacona, where he was later declared dead.
Local police conducted an inquiry at the health center and confirmed the cause of death through a post-mortem examination.
The Police Surgeon reported that the boy died from electrocution, with burns found on the medical aspect of his right thigh (the probable point of entry for the electric current) and smaller burns on the left foot (possible exit wounds). The shock led to fatal cardiac arrhythmia.
The body of the deceased was handed over to the family after the post-mortem for disposal according to religious rites.
Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Ajith Velip of the Canacona Police Station is handling the investigation and has urged locals to exercise caution when using electrical appliances.
