PANAJI: National Spokesperson and Goa in-charge of the NCP-Sharadchandra Pawar (NCP-SP), Clyde Crasto, has called for Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to step down and initiate an independent inquiry into allegations of corruption within his own ministerial department.
Crasto’s remarks come in response to recent statements made by Goa Minister Govind Gaude, who allegedly cast doubts and raised suspicions about corruption in the Chief Minister’s department.
“If a sitting minister from the same government is making such serious accusations, it is a matter of grave concern,” Crasto stated.
He criticized CM Sawant’s reaction to Gaude’s comments, noting that instead of dismissing the allegations and threatening disciplinary action against Gaude, the Chief Minister should take the charges seriously.
“CM Pramod Sawant must step down and conduct an inquiry on his own department and prove that the doubts and aspersions of corruption made by Govind Gaude are false,” Crasto said.
The NCP-SP leader emphasized the need for transparency and accountability, urging the Chief Minister to demonstrate to the people of Goa that he is “clean and upright” by allowing an impartial probe into the allegations.
