MARGAO: The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) conducted a special inspection drive in Salcete Taluka on June 19, 2025, as part of its ongoing efforts to safeguard public health and ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
During the drive, five food establishments in the Margao area were inspected. Serious violations were uncovered at M/s Hotel Jyoti Plaza, including the use of expired food products and food colours, lack of pest control documentation, absence of sanitary cards, unhygienic conditions such as dirty ceilings with flaking paint, cockroach infestation in storage areas, and food handlers not wearing appropriate attire.
The establishment was directed to discard expired and unsafe products immediately in the interest of public health. An inspection report was issued with a directive to address all deficiencies within seven days and report compliance to the Directorate.
Other establishments inspected included M/s Hotel Laxmi Empire, M/s Molus Kitchen, M/s Shradha Classic, and M/s Domino’s, where minor deficiencies were noted. Inspection reports were issued with instructions for rectification.
The inspections were carried out by Food Safety Officers Shri Atul Dessai and Miss Pradiksha Chopdekar, under the guidance of FDA Director Smt. Shweta Dessai.
The FDA reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining strict hygiene and food safety standards across Goa.
