Panaji: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has called upon sports associations in Goa to step up and take responsibility for maintaining sports grounds in the state, citing poor upkeep of existing infrastructure.
“Even though Goa is a small state, we have developed good sports infrastructure. However, I have observed that the maintenance of this infrastructure is lacking. Some sports grounds remain abandoned,” Sawant said.
The Chief Minister noted that several associations have approached the government seeking dedicated grounds. He stated that if these associations are willing to maintain the grounds, it would help the government officially allot specific venues to them.
“For this to happen, associations must first identify the grounds,” Sawant added, emphasizing the need for a collaborative approach to sustain and improve sports facilities across the state.
