Panaji: The Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services celebrated the 79th Independence Day on Friday at its headquarters in St. Inez, Panaji, with Director Nitin V. Raiker unfurling the national flag in the presence of officers, fire personnel and staff.
In his address, Raiker announced the official registration of the Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services Employees Co-operative Credit Society Ltd. under the Goa Co-operative Societies Rules, 2003, saying the initiative would promote financial cooperation and welfare among employees. He urged personnel to continue serving society with devotion and ensure Goa’s safety and security.
On the occasion, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant presented Raiker with the Bronze Disc and Commendation Certificate awarded by the Ministry of Home Affairs in recognition of his leadership in handling major fire and emergency situations across Goa. Sub-Officer Ulhas Gaonkar of Canacona Fire Station was also conferred the Medal for Meritorious Service.
The programme saw full participation of operational and administrative staff, reflecting the department’s unity, courage and professionalism in safeguarding lives and property.
