SALCETE: In a crackdown on illegal food vending, the South Goa Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) inspected 22 hawkers on 18th September and found 13 operating without licences.
Notices were immediately issued to the violators, highlighting the authorities’ strict stance on unregulated food businesses.
Seven hawkers were further penalised ₹27,000 for unhygienic practices, while three received COTPA challans for not displaying no-smoking boards.
Alongside this, seven fast-food outlets were inspected, with four ordered to shut for poor hygiene, absence of FSSAI licences, and unsafe food handling practices.
The FDA reiterated its zero-tolerance policy toward illegal and unhygienic food operations, urging both vendors and consumers to ensure compliance with food safety norms.
