MARGAO: A 14-year-old boy from Maddel, Margao, died early Wednesday morning after reportedly suffering from high fever for several days.
According to Fatorda Police, a call was received from the casualty department of South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), Margao, at around 9:57 a.m. on October 15, 2025, informing that the boy, identified as Arsif Khan, a native of Jharkhand and resident of Maddel, Margao, was brought dead.
Police said that during enquiry with the boy’s mother, Rabiya Khatoon, it was revealed that Arsif had been suffering from high fever for the past four days. Around 4:00 a.m., he reportedly complained of uneasiness, and by 6:00 a.m., began vomiting. He was then shifted to SGDH through 108 emergency services, where doctors declared him brought dead.
An inquest panchanama was conducted, and the body was sent for post-mortem examination. The police surgeon certified the cause of death as acute cardiorespiratory failure secondary to probable systemic infection. Viscera have been preserved for chemical analysis to rule out poisoning, while blood samples have been retained for microbiological tests to check for infections such as dengue, leptospirosis, or malaria.
The body has been handed over to the family for final rites. Further enquiry is being conducted by PSI Satvashil Devidas of Fatorda Police Station.
