PANAJI: A meeting of the District Level Committee for settlement of forest rights claims was convened under the chairmanship of North Goa Collector Ankit Yadav, IAS.
During the session, a total of 68 claims were taken up for consideration. The applications pertained to villages including Anjunem, Melaulim, Carambolim (Brahma), Nanoda and Copordem in Sattari taluka.
Officials examined the claims as part of the ongoing process to verify and decide upon forest rights applications in accordance with the prescribed procedures. The committee reviewed the documentation and status of each case before taking decisions.
The District Administration stated that such meetings are being held periodically to ensure timely disposal of pending claims and to facilitate due process for eligible beneficiaries under the forest rights framework.
