PANJIM: As many 150 asymptomatic Covid patients have opted for home isolation, while another 20 applications are pending, the Health Secretary Nila Mohanan said on Friday.
Mohanan also said that a total of 24 applications were rejected by the district collectors after the applicants failed to meet the required criteria.
“A total of 190 applications were received by both North and South Goa Collectors together of which 150 were granted permissions for home isolation.” She said
The Health Secretary Nila Mohanan further informed that three private hospitals Manipal, Apollo and SMRC have reserved 20 percent of ICU beds for COVID19 as per government directions.
Replying to a question, the Health Secretary informed at least 35 to 40 recovered COVID-19 patients have already donated their plasma and the state government is encouraging more patients to come forward.
Mohanan further informed that antigens tests are already done at District Hospital, Hospicio, Azilo and Sub District hospitals in Ponda and Chicalim and that in the days to come PHCs and CHCs will also conduct the tests.
On the delay in testing results, she said, that DHS has been doing its best in increasing testing.
Speaking on the condition of Cuncolim MLA Clafasio Dias, Mohanan said he was shifted from ESI Hospital to GMC, as he required some rehabilitation treatment for his pulmonary condition.
“The news is true that the MLA tested positive again after testing negative in the confirmatory test. There are some cases of people testing from negative to positive because of the reminensence of the virus which is in the body. He is currently taking treatment in isolation.” Mohanan said
Meanwhile, according to the Health Bulletin, Goa reported 209 new positive cases while there were 206 recoveries and two deaths.
However, two fatalities were reported, one male 49 years from Querim Sattari admitted at ESI COVID hospital Margao with co-morbid condition expired another female 73 years from Margao and admitted at COVID hospital Margao with co-morbid conditions, expired today.
Out of 6431 samples, 2203 are negative, 209 are positive and 4019 reports awaited.
