Prayagraj: In a remarkable display of coordination and dedication, Prayagraj witnessed a massive cleanliness drive on Monday, as 15,000 sanitation workers came together to attempt a Guinness World Record. This monumental effort was part of the Maha Kumbh Mela, a global spiritual and cultural event that has been setting new standards in cleanliness and organization. The drive spanned across four zones, showcasing the city’s commitment to maintaining a pristine environment during this significant gathering.
The event was overseen by Prayagraj Mayor Ganesh Kesarwani and Mahakumbh’s Special Executive Officer Akanksha Rana, along with a supervisory team from the Guinness Book of World Records. Chief supervisor Rishi Nath, who traveled from London, ensured that every detail was meticulously recorded. To verify the participation of the sanitation workers, each was equipped with a wristband featuring a unique code that was scanned during the event.
This ambitious undertaking follows a precedent set in 2019, when 10,000 sanitation workers successfully created a Guinness World Record for a synchronized cleanliness drive during the Kumbh Mela. The current attempt not only aims to surpass this achievement but also to reinforce the message of cleanliness and sustainability that the Maha Kumbh Mela embodies. According to Uttar Pradesh Urban Development and Energy Minister AK Sharma, the sanitation workers are the unsung heroes who have made the Maha Kumbh Mela a resounding success through their tireless efforts to keep the area clean around the clock.
The final validation report for this record attempt is expected to be released within three days, pending the review by the Guinness World Records team.
