Team Goemkarponn
Panjim: Goa Olympic Association (GOA) has announced a 16-member team to represent the state at the upcoming Road Cycling National Championship 2025, scheduled for November. The selection trials, conducted under the authority of the Cycling Federation of India (CFI), were overseen by Dr. Dharmender Lamba, Technical Official deputed by CFI, along with GOA coordinators Joel Fernandes, Sandeep Heble, Agnel D’Sa, and a team of volunteers. The trials took place along the Dona Paola–Bambolim route, with the start and finish at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Taleigao Plateau.
In the Men’s Elite category, Derwyn Viegas led the trials, followed by Fredsan Marshall, Shravan Jog, Vincent Godai, Navin Naik, and Harsh Bhonsle. In the Men’s Under-23 category, Atharv Sawant secured the top spot, with Prem Shetgaonkar, Yash Kushwah, and Mark Fernandes completing the lineup.
Among younger cyclists, Ashwel Fernandes and Deep Raikar qualified in the Junior Boys (U19) category, while Shripad Lotliker earned a place in Sub Junior Boys (U16). In the girls’ categories, Angie Fernandes and Kiara Araujo qualified in Sub Junior Girls (U16), and Aarya Fernandes will compete in Girls Youth (U14).
The selected cyclists will now prepare for the national championship, aiming to showcase Goa’s talent on the national stage.
