PANAJI: Bowing to demands of the people as well as the MLAs of ruling and Opposition, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Friday announced 15-day curfew in the State from Sunday, May 9 to May 24, 6 am.
Chief Minister said that the essential services and groceries will not be affected.
“State level curfew from Sunday at 6 am. Essential and grocery from will be available 7 am to 1 pm. Take away kitchen will be open from 7 am to 7 pm. The detailed order by the Collectors would be out by 4 pm tomorrow,” he said.
Sawant said all functions from Sunday will be cancelled as people have not been following SOPs.
As per HC, CM said, the tourists will ahve to come with COVID-negative certificate.
“People must move out without reason. The police will take action against the people who are moving around unnecessarily,” he said.
Sawant further said that 96 p.c deaths are of those who did not take vaccine.
“Recovery rate is 71 to 74 p.c recovery rate. The State government is making all efforts but the people also have to cooperate,” he said.
He said that the Step up hospitals are started for those who do not require Oxygen.
“Demanding lockdown is easy but not practical as the head of the State, I have to look at the welfare of all people. Creating infrastructure is my job. We should have not reached this stage as people could have taken their own care by staying home,” he said.
“People are not listening and that is why we had to use police lathi to control everyone by enforcing law,” he said.
