PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today launched the OTS Scheme to settle legacy tax issue pending before the GST regime.
Addressing the media, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that today 16,412 traders have been granted RS 48 crore tax waiver under the OTS Scheme
“Around 16,412 traders got tax waiver of Rs 48 cr under OTS scheme launched to settle their legacy tax issue pending before the GST regime was implemented or before June 2017,” said Sawant.
He further said that the last date to settle the pre-GST arrears is March 7, 2024 and that no further extension would be granted.
“Tax exemption of ₹ 48.5 crore to 16,412 beneficiaries under GRATIPOS Act on behalf of Sales Tax Department,” he added.
Sawant said that the decision to waive tax for those with less than 10,000 arrears.
“A one time settlement scheme has been implemented to give tax exemption to traders. The certificate of no arrears can be obtained from the website of the department,” informed Sawant.
Sawant said that we have to settle everything. We have to clean up. All pending issues related to VAT, GST and excise should be cleared.
The GST team is working tirelessly to settle all the issues. Tax payers should come forward to settle all tax- related issues,” Sawant said.
He said if the defaulting tax payers come forward to clear all their tax claims under the one-time settlement scheme then the benefits will be passed on to them.
