MARGAO: After a suspected cholera case was recently reported at Goa Medical College, 19 cases have now been detected at Cutbona Jetty, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane confirmed on Thursday.
The Directorate of Health Services (DHS) has launched a series of preventive measures, including screening of workers, water testing, cleaning of tanks, stocking of essential medicines, and holding awareness campaigns.
To ensure coordinated action, DHS is working in collaboration with the Fisheries Department, local Panchayat, Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), Sulabh Souchalaya, the Deputy Collector, and boat owners’ associations.
“These collective efforts are focused on improving sanitation at the jetty and safeguarding the fishing community through every possible preventive step,” Rane said.
