PANAJI: The 19th Global Communication Conclave of the Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) concluded in Goa on September 26-27, bringing together leading luminaries from government, media, corporate, academia, and the creative industries to explore the evolving landscape of communication and its transformative impact on society, governance, and business.
The conclave was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Governor of Goa, Shri Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju, who emphasized the importance of credibility, authenticity, and ethical standards in communication. In his address, the Governor highlighted how effective communication fosters trust and transparency in governance and corporate practices. The inaugural day also featured the Chanakya Award function, attended by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, who praised this year’s theme, “Power of PR: Emerging Waves of Communication,” noting how innovation, digital transformation, and authentic engagement are redefining communication practices.
Mr. M B Jayaram, Chairman Emeritus of PRCI, lauded the event as a “phenomenal success,” praising the passion and expertise displayed by delegates. National President Ms. Geeta Shankar echoed the sentiment, noting that the conclave’s discussions and interactions highlighted the power of communication in driving organizational success. Deepak Narvekar, Chairman of the PRCI Goa Chapter, expressed pride in hosting the event, emphasizing the conclave’s role in fostering excellence, innovation, and collaboration in the communication field.
The two-day conclave featured diverse deliberations on topics including Public Relations and Technology, PR and Leadership, Politics and Communication, Youth Engagement, and Global Communication. Distinguished speakers, academicians, corporate professionals, and TEDx presenters shared experiences and actionable insights on the future of communication. Notable attendees included Pramod Shetty, film producer; Rtn. Dr. Srinivasan; Kaayan Kalthia, Executive Director of KosolEnergie, Ahmedabad; and Professor Mathew Hibberd, Dean of Faculty of Communication, Switzerland, whose presence enriched the discussions.
The Chanakya Awards recognized outstanding achievements in communication, with Dr. Siba Prasad Mohanty, Managing Director of Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited (HURL), receiving the Chanakya Award for CEO of the Year (Joint Ventures). Irfan Rashid of REC Limited won the Chanakya Jury Special Award for Promising Corporate Communicator of the Year, while VSR Naidu was inducted into the “Hall of Fame in PR” for his exceptional contributions to the field. The PRCI Excellence Awards 2025 honored over 100 corporates nationwide for exemplary work in corporate and brand communication, with the ceremony graced by Dr. Ganesh Gaonkar, Hon’ble Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly.
The PRCI Goa Chapter, under the leadership of Deepak Narvekar, played a pivotal role in organizing the conclave, supported by chapter members including Waman Prabhu, Gurunath Pai, Nikhil Wagh, Kalika Bapat, Nikita Chodankar, John Agular, Anant Joshi, John Samuel, Raj Britto, Vrundavan Raikar, and Sandeep Kamble. Adding a cultural dimension to the event, the Art and Culture Department of the Government of Goa staged a grand traditional folk dance performance, Gomantarang, on the evening of the first day, delighting attendees and reflecting Goa’s rich heritage.
The conclave successfully reaffirmed PRCI’s commitment to serving as a vibrant platform for dialogue, knowledge-sharing, and collaboration, fostering innovation, celebrating excellence, and advancing the role of communication as a driver of societal and corporate progress.
