NUVEM: Maina Curtorim Police arrested two persons today for holding an illegal bike racing event in Nuvem.
The accused persons are identified as Adarsh Anand Godkar, age 22 yrs, Occ-Unemployed, R/o H. No. EWS 492, Rumdamol Housing Board Davorlim Salcete Goa and Mr Arfaaz Shaikh s/o Adaim Shaikh age 22 yrs, Occ-Unemployed, R/o H. No. 18, Rawabhat, Shirvoim Quepem Goa.
In the video that circulated on Sunday, it can be seen that the racing event had no safety measures in place, thus posing a threat to the lives of a large number of spectators gathered and road users.
Congress Media Amarnath Panjikar posted a photo of the race in a tweet and for the inaction by the transport authorities. He also blamed transport minister Mauvin Godinho.
“Most irresponsible & failed Transport, Panchayat & Protocol Minister Mauvin Godinho. This is for you. Blame stops at you. Stop blaming Priests, Panchayats & Others. If Media can reach there, how do your Transport Department Officials remain unaware of the race?” he questioned.
The accused have been charged u/s 279, 336 IPC and are placed under arrest after observing all SC Guidelines (.) Further investigation is in progress with 1. O PSI Prashant Bhagat Maina Curtorim PS.
