MARGAO: Maina Curtorim Police arrested 20 persons in the early hours of Saturday for allegedly being involved in online gambling activities in Salcete.
According to the police, the raid was conducted around 3:25 a.m. on October 12 at a closed premises near Nessai Gate, Sao Jose de Areal, based on specific information received by PSI Sanket Naik of Maina Curtorim Police Station.
During the raid, officers caught the accused persons red-handed and seized ₹4.4 lakh in cash, four tablets, a router, and a modem believed to have been used for the illegal gambling operations.
All 20 accused, hailing from various parts of Goa and Karnataka, were arrested and later released on bail. Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Gaurav Naik of Maina Curtorim Police Station.
