FATORDA: Fatorda Police have booked 20 persons, including five identified accused, for allegedly intercepting a car, assaulting its occupants with weapons, and firing gunshots in an attempt to kill one of them near Sagun Restaurant, Mungul, in the early hours of August 12.
Police said the complainant, Yuvkesh Singh Badaila of Margao, and his friend Rafiq were travelling in a Baleno car from Colva towards Margao at around 2.45 a.m. when they were allegedly waylaid by accused Akshay Talwar and Rahul Talwar (both from Borda, Fatorda), Wilson Carvalho, Shahrukh (of Davorlim, full name unknown), Rasool (of Margao, full name and address unknown), along with about 15 masked accomplices.
The group, armed with deadly weapons and travelling in an Innova and four other cars, allegedly restrained the victims and assaulted them with soda bottles and a koyta (sickle), causing sharp cut injuries. One masked accused is said to have fired two rounds at the complainant, hitting his vehicle and damaging it, before the attackers fled the scene.
The case is under investigation by PSI Atikesh Khedekar of Fatorda Police Station.
