Curchorem: In a case of theft of government property, unknown miscreants allegedly stole approximately 20 metres of AB (aerial bundled) electric cable worth around ₹25,000 from a site in Matojem, Shigao on the evening of July 15, 2025.
The complaint was lodged by Kasheshwar Kalekar, Assistant Engineer-IV (O&M), attached to the Electricity Department’s Sub Division-IV, Curchorem. As per his report, the unidentified accused persons were seen cutting and loading the electric cable into a Tata Ace rickshaw at around 8:00 PM before fleeing the spot.
The incident involves theft of essential public infrastructure, and a case has been registered at Collem Police Station. PSI Harish Naik has been assigned to lead the investigation.
Police have begun efforts to trace the accused and recover the stolen government property. Authorities are also urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity around public utility installations.
