SANCOALE: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said that 20 per cent of seats in the International University of Legal education would be reserved for Goan students.
The inaugural function of the India International University of Legal Education was held in Sancoale Kala Bhavan on Thursday evening at the hands of Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant.
During the inaugural ceremony at Kala Bhavan, Dr Pramod Sawant said that the state government had allotted 2 lakh square meters of land at Dharbandoda to construct the India International University of Legal Education, one of the best law schools in the country. Around 20 per cent of Goan students will have reservations and the opportunity to study at this university. This University will be well-equipped with all kinds of facilities, which will produce many personalities with excellent knowledge of the law shortly, he said.
Later, in his address Supreme Court Justice B.R. Gawai said that it is very good to see that Legal institution is coming to Goa within 15 months after discussing this idea with the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant.
He also said that it is a historic moment which we are witnessing wherein dignitaries associated with Law from other countries like Singapore and Bhutan are present on this occasion here.
The India International University of Legal Education will be the first of its kind legal university in India, which will be having state of the art infrastructure and amenities with international standards,” he added.
On this occasion, Chairman of Bar Council of India Manan Kumar Mishra, Advocate General of Goa Devidas Pangam, Supreme court chief justice B.R. Gavai, Law Minister of Goa Nilesh Cabral and other dignitaries of the Bar Council were present.
CM Sawant also made a series of tweets via his Twitter handle stating that “Our Govt is committed to making Goa an
Education hub in India, and establishing this university is another step on that path. I feel privileged to inaugurate such a prestigious institution in Goa which shall offer the best faculty from National and International levels”.
