PANAJI: In a bid to curb nuisance, maintain public order, and ensure the safety and convenience of residents and tourists, Goa Police conducted a special drive against drinking alcohol in public places across North Goa District.
During the period from 1 January 2025 till date, action has been taken against more than 200 individuals found consuming alcohol in public areas, causing inconvenience to the general public.
This initiative was taken in response to complaints regarding unruly behavior, littering, and public disturbances linked to alcohol consumption in open spaces.
Besides 166 cases under section 34 Indian Police Act have been booked during the relevant period.
Goa Police reiterates that drinking in public places is a punishable offense under Goa Tourist Places (Protection and Maintenance) Act, 2001, and strict action will continue to be taken against violators. Tourists and locals are urged to respect the law and enjoy responsibly within permitted premises.
