PANAJI: Since the 2019–21 fiscal year, the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) has taught more than 7,000 candidates throughout the State.
In response to an unstarred question in the Lok Sabha, Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary stated, “A strong stakeholder consultation and regulatory framework has been established for conducting necessary research/study/survey to provide training courses under PMKVY to youth for purposes of up-skilling and re-skilling.”
He said that through frequent studies and consultations, Sector Skill Councils (SSCs), which are required under the National Policy on Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, actively work with industries to identify skill gaps.
To guarantee thorough skill evaluations, the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) commissions’ research focusses on both the Indian and international employment markets.
Competency standards and credentials are created for high-demand employment roles based on these studies and consultations.
The National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET)-accredited industries are consulted in order to validate these credentials.
He added that in order to guarantee that PMKVY courses are in line with regional requirements, District Skill Committees (DSCs) have created District Skill Development Plans (DSDPs) to map industry demand, identify skill gaps, and other issues at the district level.
Additionally, through extensive multimedia campaigns, frequent media briefings, active participation on social media platforms, and community engagement initiatives, MSDE has carried out a number of awareness campaigns and promotional activities to educate Indian citizens across all States about the courses offered under the PMKVY.
“Citizens can access comprehensive information about PMKVY courses, enrol in training programs, and locate the nearest centres where the scheme is running by utilising the MSDE’s digital initiative, Skill India Digital Hub,” he said.
