CANACONA: A 21-year-old youth from Loliem died after suffering an electric shock at his residence late Monday night.
The deceased, identified as Suraj Rajputh Lodi, was rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) Canacona by his family members, where doctors declared him brought dead.
According to Canacona police, Lodi was found lying unconscious on the floor near the main gate of his house. Preliminary information suggests that there was a leakage of current from an electric wire passing through the gate, which may have led to the fatal accident.
Police received an intimation from the duty doctor at CHC around 2:22 am on Tuesday, following which an inquest panchanama was conducted. The body was later shifted to South Goa District Hospital, Margao, where a post-mortem examination confirmed electrocution as the cause of death.
The body was handed over to the family for last rites. Canacona police have registered a case under Section 194 of BNSS 2023, and PSI Babu Dessai is conducting further inquiry into the matter.
