Cuncolim: A 23-day-old baby boy from Uttar Pradesh, residing with his parents at IDC Cuncolim, was declared brought dead at PHC Balli.
According to police, the infant was delivered at South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), Margao, on July 22 and was referred the same day to GMC Bambolim due to complications. After being admitted at GMC for two days, the baby was shifted back to SGDH, where he remained under observation and treatment for about 17 days.
The child and his mother were later discharged and returned to their rented accommodation at IDC Cuncolim. On August 14, while being breastfed, the baby reportedly developed breathing difficulties. The parents immediately called the 108 emergency services, and the child was rushed to PHC Balli, where doctors declared him brought dead.
An inquest panchanama was conducted in the presence of witnesses, and the body has been preserved at the SGDH morgue for medico-legal formalities. Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Aditya Sawant of Cuncolim Police Station.
