SIOLIM: Anjuna Police have registered a case against a 23-year-old woman from Uttar Pradesh for rash and negligent driving and for fleeing the scene after knocking down a scooter rider and his pillion at Siolim on Sunday morning.
According to police, the incident occurred on September 7 at around 8:27 a.m. near Laxmi Narayan temple, opposite Rabbit Hols restaurant. The accused, identified as Rhea Shukla (23), a resident of Lucknow, was driving a silver Maruti Suzuki Baleno (GA-03-AH-9862) from Theatre Junction towards St. Anthony Church when she allegedly rammed into a Honda Activa (GA-03-AG-2560) moving in the same direction.
The scooter was ridden by Gajanan Moye (73) with a woman as pillion. Both sustained injuries after falling on the road. Police said the accused sped away from the spot without rendering medical assistance or reporting the accident.
Based on a complaint lodged by Head Constable Rupesh Shetgaonkar (49) of Anjuna Police Station, a case has been registered under sections 281 and 125 (a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and sections 134 (a) and (b) of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
