PANAJI: Ewven 24 hours after the heinous crime, the Goa Police has failed to trace the lady who stole the one month old baby from the Goa Medical College on Friday.
After reports of lady being spotted in Mapusa, the police launched a massive hunt yet they could not lay their hands on the accused.
Mapusa had become a fortress last evening with hundreds of policemen gathering to lookout for the accused.
Police have released video footage of the accused lady who had fled away with month old baby from Goa Medical College (GMC) yesterday.
According to the police the suspected woman kidnapper was last seen at Karaswada and her whereabouts after this is not known.
Search operation is underway since over 18 hours to find the infant. Police have not ruled out organised kidnap/crime racket.
Yesterday, in a day light incident, a one year old baby boy was kidnapped from Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC).
The Agassaim police had registered a case of kidnapping against a unknown women, who is accused of kidnapping the infant.
As per information provided by the police, the mother of the baby, who is from Orissa, had visited GMC with the child. The mother later handed over the baby to the accused women, waiting in the line, to hold it.
However, the accused women ran away with the child.
GMC has nothing to do with
kidnapping incident: HM Rane
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has said that the Goa Medical College (GMC) has nothing to do with the kidnapping Incident and had been falsely reported.
The statements by HM Rane came after Leader of Opposition (LoP) Digambar Kamat tweeted saying that even the hospitals are safe.
“I would like to bring to attention that the kidnapping incident reported at GMC has been incorrectly reported. The child was neither a patient at GMC nor it has anything to do with the security lapse,” said Rane in a tweet
He further said that it was baseless allegation and the facts of the incident are totally different.
