PORVORIM: Police have registered an Unnatural Death case (UD No. 51/2025) under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) after a 24-year-old man was found dead near the Fire Station at Porvorim.
At around 8:50 am, Porvorim Police received a PCR call reporting that a person was lying motionless near the Fire Station.
A team rushed to the spot and found an unknown male lying dead in the compound of Parasi The Goa Building, Alto Porvorim.
During enquiries in the surrounding area, the deceased was identified by Khokan Hemran as his brother, Swapan Hemran, son of Purma Hemran, originally from West Bengal.
Police said no signs of homicidal injury were found at the scene. However, inspection of the building revealed footmarks on the tin sheet roofing, which was also found bent. The roof of the building is estimated to be 25 to 30 metres above road level.
Based on initial observations, the police stated that it appears the deceased may have jumped from the roof, indicating a suspected suicide.
Further investigation is underway.
