PONDA: A 24-year-old man from Verem, Ponda, passed away late Saturday night after reportedly falling unconscious at home following a bout of fever.
According to police, Aniket Girodker (24), a resident of Verem, Ponda, was brought dead to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Betki, Marcel, around 12:46 am on Sunday.
The information was relayed to the police by the attending Medical Officer.
Police personnel visited the PHC, where the body was identified by Subhash Girodker, uncle of the deceased.
Preliminary enquiry revealed that Aniket had been suffering from fever for the past three days, and around 10:30 pm on Saturday, he became unconscious at his residence.
He was immediately shifted to PHC Betki, where doctors declared him brought dead.
An inquest panchanama was conducted, and the body was sent for post-mortem examination, which confirmed the cause of death as aspiration pneumonitis.
The body was later handed over to the family for final rites. PSI Nitesh Kankonkar of Mardol Police Station is conducting further enquiry into the incident.
