DELHI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) to end Ragging will soon set up a 24×7 anti-ragging helpline for students of Goa University and its affiliated colleges across the state.
UGC has floated a tender for selecting NGOs and NGAs for monitoring of 24×7 anti-ragging helpline, creating awareness to demote Ragging in Universities, colleges and associated IT and Database work.
The Goa University has set up Anti Ragging Unit to conduct an on the spot enquiry into any incident of Ragging referred to it by the Head of the Institution or any member of the faculty or any member of the staff or any student or any parent or guardian or any employee of a service provider or by any student or any other person, as the case may be; and the enquiry report along with recommendations to be submitted to the Anti-Ragging Committee for action under clause (a) 9.1 of UGC.
The Anti Ragging Committee also ensures the compliance of provisions pertaining to UGC Regulations on curbing the menace of Ragging as well as the provision of the Goa Prohibition of Ragging Act 2008 (and amendment and to monitor, oversee and guide the anti-ragging squad.
