Team Goemkarponn
CANACONA: In a significant initiative aimed at promoting self-employment, entrepreneurship and economic self-reliance among women, a short-term training programme on marine fish processing was conducted at Agonda in Canacona taluka.
The programme was jointly organised by the Directorate of Fisheries, the Rural Development Agency (RDA), and the Jivika M.C.L.F. Cooperative Multipurpose Society Limited. A total of 25 women participated in the training held at the Sports Complex Hall in Desaiwada, Agonda.
As part of the initiative, participants received hands-on training in the preparation of value-added marine products including prawn pickle, prawn balchao, mackerel cutlets, and dry prawn pakoras. Detailed guidance on processing techniques and product preparation was provided, along with practical demonstrations to ensure skill development.
On the occasion, sea-safety equipment such as life jackets and life buoys were distributed to the participants, highlighting the importance of safety in marine-related activities.
The training was conducted by instructor Sumitra Talavlikar under the guidance of Rahul Chari. The programme was attended by Group Development Manager of RDA Ramita Gaonkar; Cooperative Officers Shubhangi Pagi, Aparna Gaonkar, Vijay Velip and Sabi Morais; Fisheries Officer Devanand Lone; and Sagar Mitras Ashish Velip and Disha Pagi.
The programme was coordinated by Fisheries Extension Officer Lavkush Malik. Certificates were distributed to all participants at the conclusion of the training.
