VASCO: A 25-year-old man lost his life after being struck by a running train near the last bus stop at New Vaddem, Vasco, on Thursday at 22.45 hrs.
Police received information from the PCR about a person being hit by a train and immediately visited the spot. On reaching the railway track, officers found an unidentified male lying beside the tracks. During inquiry, the deceased was identified by Rupesh Shikarwar, resident of Uttar Pradesh, as his friend Akhil Nariyal, 25, resident of New Vaddem, Vasco, and native of Himachal Pradesh.
Police conducted an inquest panchanama and preserved the body at SGDH Margao for medico-legal formalities.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that the deceased was walking or crossing the railway track when he came in contact with the moving train.
Vasco Railway Police have registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the BNSS. Further inquiry is being conducted by PSI Krishna Talpi of Vasco Railway Police Station under the supervision of PI Amarnath Passi and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
