VERNA: Verna police have on arrested a 26 year old Rohan Bind for possession of 4.255 kgs Ganja worth Rs 4.25 lakhs.
Acting on reliable and specific information, the Verna Police conducted a narcotics raid on Saturday, between 4:43 PM and 6:45 PM, at an open ground in Old Mardol, Verna.
During the operation, they apprehended Rohan Teju Prasad Bind (26), a resident of Old Mardol and native of Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, for possessing 4.255 kilograms of ganja worth ₹4,25,000.
The narcotics were seized as per the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and a panchanama was conducted.
The accused has been charged under Section 20(b)(ii)(B) of the NDPS Act.
Following his arrest, the accused Bind was produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) in Margao, who remanded him to five days of police custody.
Further investigation into the case is being led by PSI Ramchandra Naik of Verna Police Station under the supervision of PI Melson Colaco and the guidance of SP South, Sunita Sawant, and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Vasco, Gurudas Kadam.
