MOBOR: A major tragedy was averted early Sunday morning when 27 fishermen were rescued after their trawler capsized at the Mobor river mouth.
The rescue was jointly carried out by Drishti Marine lifesavers, local fishermen, and water sports operators.
According to officials, the fishing vessel had suffered a mechanical failure late Saturday night and remained stranded off Mobor beach.
While the trawler remained stable for several hours, it eventually capsized in the early hours of Sunday, causing panic among the crew on board.
Drishti Marine received an alert around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, and at 6:45 a.m. Sunday, deployed three jet skis with a team of 10 lifesavers to the site.
The hour-long operation, supported by local fishermen including Pele, ensured that all 27 crew members were safely brought ashore.
A spokesperson for Drishti Marine confirmed that no casualties were reported and credited the swift coordination between lifesavers and the fishing community for the successful rescue.
