Zaurinagar: In a tragic incident, a 27-year-old construction worker identified as Basvraj Arakeri, a native of Haveri, Karnataka and residing in Zaurinagar, lost his life after accidentally falling from the rooftop of a building under construction.
According to information received from the Casualty Police at the Sub District Hospital (SDH), Chicalim, the deceased was brought in after reportedly falling from the third-floor terrace while working at a construction site. During the inquiry, the deceased’s brother, Pradeep Hyati, informed police that the two were working together on the open terrace when Basvraj accidentally slipped and fell to the ground, sustaining severe injuries to his face.
He was immediately rushed to SDH Chicalim, where doctors declared him brought dead. Following the incident, PSI Mahesh Bhomkar of Verna Police Station conducted an inquest panchanama and documented the scene of the unnatural death. The body was later shifted to South Goa District Hospital, Margao, where a police surgeon performed the autopsy.
The cause of death was certified as “damage to head, chest, and abdomen consequent to blunt force impact.” The body was handed over to the family for final rites. Further inquiry is ongoing.
