VERNA: A 28-year-old man from Karnataka, residing in Zuarinagar, died early Tuesday morning after reportedly collapsing at home due to a cardiac condition.
According to Verna Police, they received a call from PHC Cansaulim at around 6:18 am on October 21, 2025, informing that Vilas Rathod (28), a resident of Birla, Zuarinagar, was brought dead to the hospital.
During the inquiry, the deceased’s wife, Kavita Lamani, told police that on October 20 evening, her husband had complained of chest pain and was taken to Sub District Hospital, Chicalim, where his ECG report was found normal. However, around 3 am on October 21, he reportedly collapsed while vomiting in the washroom, following which he was rushed to PHC Cansaulim, where the attending doctor declared him brought dead.
An inquest panchanama was conducted, and the body was sent for post-mortem examination at South Goa District Hospital, Margao. The autopsy report confirmed that the cause of death was cardiac tamponade consequent to rupture of an aneurysm of the ascending aorta, in a case of polycystic kidney disease with systemic hypertension.
The body was later handed over to the family for final rites. Further inquiry is being carried out by PSI Carey Fernandes of Verna Police Station.
