VASCO: 283 candidates from seven panchayats of Mormugao taluka filed their nomination paper for the upcoming Panchayat election in Goa. Youngest candidates from Chicalim and Cortalim village Panchayat are from ward number 3 in their panchayats.
On Tuesday a huge crowd was seen at the Ravindra Bhavan Baina in the Mamlatdar office for the scrutiny of the forms. Tuesday was the last day to file their nomination. On Wednesday, the withdrawal will be allowed whoever wants to withdraw their nomination for the panachayat election.
As per the information given by the Asst returning officer Kundan Naik, General panchayat election 2022, in Mormugao taluka there will be 7 Panchayats, 63 wards, 74 polling stations which will be involved in this election. The nomination filing dates were open from July 18 till July 25. Total 283 nominations were received.
He further said that today was the day of scrutiny of the nomination forms. No objections were received on this day. Double nomination forms were dropped during the scrutiny” Naik added.
When questioned whether any young candidates have filed their nominations, officer informed that the Young candidate was from Chicalim panchayat 22 years Swizel Andrade. Britany Rodrigues and Ruela Fernandes were also young candidates from Cortalim. All three young candidates are from ward number three of their panchayats.
Naik said that there are senior citizens above 60 years who have also filed their nominations for the panchayat election.
Withdrawal of the nomination is on Wednesday. From 10am to 2 pm is the withdrawal time. Out of 63 wards there is no ward to have an unopposed candidate. Sancoale village has the highest number of candidates.
