CANACONA – A total of three candidates are elected unopposed in three panchayats as 29 candidates withdraw from the fray from seven panchayats of Canacona on Wednesday.
According to sources at Returning Officer, Yeshwant Govind alias Dhilon Naik Desai was elected unopposed after two other contestants withdrew from the contest from ward no 5 (Genl)of Gaondongrim panchayat. Nivya Nilesh Desai and Vasant Tambdo Gaonkar withdraw their nominations.
In Shristhal Panchayat, Rajesh Kuiro Velip from ward no.5 (General) is elected unopposed after Chandrakant Dholo Gaounkar withdrew his nomination.
With these two unopposed wins, three candidates stand elected unopposed after Sunil Shridhar Paingankar became the first to win as he is the only nomination found in order for ward no .4 (General).
Meanwhile, a total of 29 candidates withdrew their nominations Khola(4), Agonda (4), Shrishthal (11), Poinguinim(1), Loliem-Polem(2), Gaondongrim(5) and Khotigao(2) and three declared unopposed leaving 169 candidates to the contest the remaining 56 seats from Seven panchayats on 10th August polls.
