Ponda: A 29-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh residing in Shantinagar, Ponda, died by suicide in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to police, information was received at around 12:10 am from Bhavan Mattimani, a resident of Shantinagar, Ponda, stating that Mukesh Kumar (29), also from Shantinagar and originally from Uttar Pradesh, had hanged himself inside his room.
Upon visiting the spot, police found that the deceased had used a piece of cloth tied to a metallic pipe on the roof to take the extreme step. During inquiries with his brother, it was revealed that Mukesh had been suffering from depression for the past few days.
Police conducted a scene of unnatural death (UD) panchanama and an inquest panchanama, after which the body was sent for post-mortem examination. The police surgeon certified the cause of death as “asphyxia due to hanging.”
The body has been handed over to the family for final rites. PSI Bansal Naik of Ponda Police Station is conducting further inquiry.
