CANACONA: Two natives of Jharkhand and one from Bagalkot (Karnataka) were booked for illegal extraction and theft of laterite stones causing a loss of Rs.10 lakhs to the State Government (exchequer).
According to police upon a written complaint from Jeetendra Viluskar, Geologist, Directorate of Mines and Geology, Panaji, along with other officials of Directorate of Mines and Geology conducted raid and found three accused persons namely Kumar Chalwadi residing at Paryemol (Khola) Canacona native of Bagalkot Karnataka, Santosh Surin, residing at Paryemol Canacona native of Jharkhand and Narayan residing at Paryemol Canacona native of Jharkhand were found indulging in illegal extraction and theft of laterite stone using Power Tiller Machine, without obtaining necessary License/ Permit from competent authority at Paryemoll, Khola, Canacona.
The three accused are charged for causing loss of approximately Rupees 10 lakhs to the State Government.
A FIR is registered at Canacona Police Station u/s 303(2) of BNS 2023, Sec 4(1) of Mines and Mineral (Development and Regulation) Act 1957 r/w 3(5) of BNS and further investigation is with PSI, Babu Dessai of Canacona Police Station.
