COLLEM: Following the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, three individuals from Chhattisgarh were taken into custody for the gang rape of two young girls close to the Collem railway station.
Collem police detained Sana Singh, 25, Jay Singh, 35, and Devlal Agaria, 22, after receiving a complaint from the survivor. The three people from Chhattisgarh, who were reportedly labourers, were momentarily residing close to the railway station in a makeshift hut.
“The labour class survivors had travelled to Goa about three weeks prior in search of employment,” stated lady PSI Vibhavari Gaonkar, who is handling the case.
“They made the decision to go back to their state after working in some areas of Goa. On Monday night, they went to the Collem train station to board the train.
According to the PSI, the survivors went up to the three accused people late on Monday night to ask for food under the railroad overpass close to Collem train station.
The survivors were then given food and shelter by the accused, but Gaonkar claimed that “taking advantage of their innocence, they gang raped the survivors while they were asleep.”
