PANAJI: Three Swedish citizens were apprehended by the Goa Police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) in Arambol on June 9 for possession of narcotics worth nearly Rs 2.6 crore and for overstaying in the country without valid visas. The arrest was announced by SP Sunita Sawant during a media briefing on June 10.
During the operation, the police recovered 24.8 grams of liquid LSD valued at Rs 2.5 crore, along with 70 LSD blotters worth Rs 7 lakh.
Additionally, 49.3 grams of ketamine liquid and 1.5 grams of ketamine powder, valued at Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 15,000 respectively, were seized.
The total estimated worth of the confiscated drugs stands at Rs 2.59 crore.
SP Sawant revealed that the trio had been residing unlawfully in India for three years, with their visas having expired long ago.
Upon verification, authorities confirmed their illegal status and have launched an investigation into their local connections and broader networks.
Cases have been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and a separate case for violation of immigration laws will also be registered.
The accused have been produced before the court as police seek custody for detailed questioning.
