MARGAO: In a firm action to curb repeated incidents of unauthorised Alarm Chain Pulling (ACP), the Konkan Railway Railway Protection Force (RPF) apprehended 31 passengers, including the group leader, on Train No. 12742 Patna–Vasco Express on 1 December 2025.
The Konkan Railway has been monitoring multiple ACP cases on this route, which often result in delays and create safety risks. To address the issue, the RPF conducted an ambush check between Madgaon and Thivim. During the operation, an ACP was triggered at the outer signal of Karmali station, following which a large number of passengers unlawfully deboarded the train mid-section.
A dedicated RPF team consisting of 15 officers and staff intercepted the offenders and detained all 31 individuals involved in the act. They were taken to the Madgaon RPF Post for further legal action and subsequently produced before the JMFC, Madgaon, under Sections 141, 145, and 147 of the Railway Act.
The Hon’ble JMFC imposed a fine of ₹1,100 on the group leader and ₹600 on each of the remaining offenders. A Travel Realisation Certificate (TRC) was issued, and in case of default, the court ordered three days of simple imprisonment.
Railway officials said the crackdown sends a strong message that ACP will not be taken lightly and that deboarding trains between sections—whether by the offenders or co-passengers—will invite strict action.
The Konkan Railway reiterated that unauthorised ACP is a punishable offence that hampers punctuality, creates operational inconvenience, and may lead to serious safety hazards for passengers.
Authorities further stated that such ambush checks will continue in ACP-prone sections to ensure smooth operations and better service for bona fide travellers.
