OLD GOA: Old Goa Police have booked a 32-year-old motorcyclist for rash and negligent driving after his Royal Enfield allegedly collided head-on with an Activa scooter at Ribandar, leaving the scooter rider grievously injured.
Police said the incident occurred on August 18 at around 5.10 am near the Ribandar–Diwar ferry point at Fonduvem, Ribandar. The accused, identified as Nigel Nelson Quadros, resident of Piedade, Diwar, was riding a Royal Enfield (GA-07/AA-6253) from Panaji towards Old Goa when he allegedly veered to the right side of the road and rammed into an Activa scooter (GA-07/AA-1309) coming from the opposite direction.
The Activa rider, Ratnakar Rawool (54) of Panvel, Ribandar, sustained grievous injuries to his right leg and is currently undergoing treatment at GMC, Bambolim.
Based on a complaint by Head Constable Chatur Sawant of Old Goa Police Station, an offence was registered under Sections 281 and 125(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
Further investigation is underway.
