CALANGUTE: In a fatal road accident that occurred on April 21, a 33-year-old man lost his life after his scooter was hit by a water tanker in Calangute.
The Calangute Police have registered an FIR under Sections 281 and 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the tanker driver.
The accident took place at around 6:10 a.m. near Domino’s Pizza, Naika Wado, Calangute. According to the police, the accused driver, Sayyadali Tashildar (45), a resident of Belgaum, Karnataka, was operating an SML water tanker (registration number GA 03 N 9272) in a rash and negligent manner when he collided with an oncoming Ntorq scooter (GA 03 AJ 4491).
The scooter rider, identified as Nilesh Mishra (33), a resident of Sangolda Residency, Chogm Road, Bardez, sustained serious injuries and later succumbed while undergoing treatment at PHC Candolim.
The case was registered based on the state complaint by Head Constable Prashant Chopdekar of Calangute Police Station.
The accused was arrested at 1:43 p.m. and later released on bail after providing surety.
