PANJIM: Gangster Zenito Cardozo has finally surrendered before the Old Goa Police. He was the prime accused in connection with the month-old shootout incident at St Cruz.
As per sources Cardozo is at the Police Headquarters in Panjim as his arrest formalities are underway. As accused Zenito Cardozo was absconding the Additional Sessions Court had dismissed his plea for anticipatory bail.
Sources said he was charged with section 120-B that is criminal conspiracy.
“Gangster Zenito Cardoso was searched in different states. His arrest was crucial due to his links with St Cruz attack.” said SDPO Panjim Uttam Raut Desai
Cardozo had moved the local court seeking relief from arrest after the North Goa Police launched a massive hunt to trace his whereabouts. Several people have been questioned and dozens of possible hide outs raided in a failed bid to track him down.
After initial reluctance, the police havd called him a prime conspirator of the attack. Imran Bepari’s house was attacked on June 20 which accidentally resulted in the killing of Sonu Yadav, fellow gang member.
